SCAM - A reminder that scammers are out in full force. It is tax time and the calls claiming to be from the IRS will begin. Many of the callers will fool you by giving you bits of personal information such as your address or sometimes the last 4 digits of your Social Security Number and asking you to verify the rest. Do not give out personal information. Don't be fooled by phone scams claiming they have your children or grandchildren or that you will be arrested. HANG UP! Once you respond they will continue to call and become more aggressive. Generally the call originates from another country and ends up with you wiring money or purchasing cards from a local retailer. Contact Box Elder County Dispatch to report fraud at 435-734-3800.
